Analysts from World Casino News claim that slots in the downtown are attracting the largest amount of visitors because of intense pedestrian activity. After the Riga City Council approves a new legislation, this privilege will be available only to four- and five-star hotels.

Gambling halls of a lower class will have to change location and leave the historic center of the capital of Latvia. Nevertheless, voting and special resolutions will be prepared for every parlor. Even if a particular business is approved, the owner will have 5 years to close the gambling hall.

The law has many opponents, for example, the advisor of the Latvian gambling association Arnis Verzemnieks. In his opinion, such a decision is a great threat to the entire legal sector.

On the other hand, there are people supporting the law because they see in it the way to create elite gambling in the center of Riga.

The large operator Olympic Entertainment Group (OEG) has announced that there is a prospect of increasing the profit.

The company owns seven gambling halls in the probable banned zone but its main parlor – Olympic Voodoo Casino – will not be influenced by the law. Eventually, this casino will be the only one able to make more profit than the other 7 gambling halls all together in the past.
