New Swiss laws have legalized online gambling, but closed the market for foreign operators. The Swiss Parliament has adopted the Money Gaming Act.

According to the decision made by lawmakers, one should hold the state license as well as be represented in the land-based gambling sector to provide online gambling services to residents of Switzerland. Local Internet providers will block operators that do not fulfil the requirements.

Earlier users were not prohibited to use international online gambling resources. Legalization will significantly cut the market, but will also bring positive changes.

Favorable aspects for Swiss players include changes in taxation. Winnings obtained in betting houses or lotteries will be exempt from taxes in case the sum is less than $1 million.
