Google Play officially lifts the ban on gambling applications

07 August 2017

As reported last month, the ban on gambling applications in Google Play has come to the end. The first countries, where operators could present their applications on the platform, were Ireland, the UK, and France. The service will be available to all countries of the world starting from August of 2017.

Gambling applications should meet some requirements to be accepted by Google Play. Primarily, the distributing company should hold a gambling license in the corresponding region. Also, built-in mechanisms are required, prohibiting underage users to access gambling apps and preventing the development of gambling addiction.

Large companies that have already got their offerings in the service include:

► Kindred Group;
► Sky Betting & Gaming;
► Ladbrokes;
► 888 Holdings.

Moreover, Google has also lifted the ban on gambling advertising in the apps store. Advertisements are regulated by certain requirements, which are fully acceptable.
